Where did God come from? I know!

Where did God come from?

Q: Dear Pastor Clark, I was talking to my son one day and he asked, “Where does God come from and how long has he been alive”? Can you help me answer this question in a more perfect way?

A: The title Almighty God can only be applied to one holding the origin of life itself. This means God must have existed before all things and all life proceeds from him and him alone.  Therefore, he can’t die, age, he can’t be created, made, formed, born from anything otherwise he can not bare the title almighty God. If God was created, then we would have to recognize his origin as God, and if he can die he doesn’t hold the mystery of life which qualifies him to be called God.  God must be before all things, he must hold all knowledge, all power, and hold the origin of life. God must be self existent without any help of anything out side of himself; otherwise he can not bare the title God.

The bible teaches “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God”. (Psa 90:2)

God alone is unbegotten and the origin of life (Gen 1:1 Isa 44:6) Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. (Isa 43:10)

Therefore tell your son that God always existed and this is the very reason he is called God. There are many so called gods in the world, but they’re all proven to be no gods because they were made, created, born, formed from some source. Our God does not have a mother or father because he is the beginning of all things and this is the true reason we worship him and him alone, God Almighty.
